Shaitan, also spelled as Shaytan, is a term used in Islam to refer to Satan or the devil. According to Islamic belief, Shaitan is a supernatural being created from smokeless flame, who rebelled against Allah (God) and refused to bow to Adam, the first human being. Shaitan is considered to be an enemy of humanity and is believed to actively try to misguide people away from the path of righteousness.
In Islamic theology, Shaitan is seen as a tempter who tries to lead people astray from the straight path and towards sin and disobedience to Allah. Muslims are advised to seek refuge in Allah from Shaitan’s evil influence and to resist his temptations by relying on their faith and following the teachings of the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad.
What is the Story of Shaitan (IBLIS):
In Islamic tradition, Iblis was an angel. who had attained a high rank in the heavenly hierarchy due to his righteousness and devotion to Allah. However, when Allah created Adam and ordered the angels to bow down to him, Iblis refused. Citing his superiority over humans as a reason for his disobedience. His refusal and arrogance led him to be cast out of Heaven. And he became known as Shaitan or Satan.
Iblis’s rebellion was not due to weakness or ignorance, but rather it was a result of his arrogance and pride. He thought that his own achievements and status made him superior to Adam and thus refused to submit to Allah’s command. This act of disobedience and rebellion against Allah led to his fall from grace and his transformation into Shaitan.
In Islamic belief, Shaitan continues to try to mislead and tempt humans away from the path of righteousness. And it is up to each individual to resist his influence and seek Allah’s protection from his evil ways.
